Premonition

There have been a lot of films that have been trying to ride the whole japaneese supernatural thriller craze, and most of them suck balls. The originals they are imitating weren't that good in the first place. I mean, the first Ju-on was cool, but the Ringu films are way overratted, as are their american counterparts. So I was somewhat skeptical about how good Premonition would be, but it is actually pretty good.

The general concept of Premonition is that this guy sees his little girl's obituary in a newspaper right before she dies. He is plauged by this for a long time, and eventually he keeps getting these prophetic newspapers. He and his ex-wife team up to try to sort some things out, but the ending isn't exactly an American happy ending. The film overall is pretty cool, it boasts some good imagery and there are none of those stupid cheap scare tactics. This isn't the best film ever, but it's pretty good. Recommended.
